University of Tennessee Students VS RIAA
Last week it was reported by the News Sentinel that the University of Tennessee is ranked fourth in the nation for illegal downloads. The latest news, as reported by yahoo.com, is that the RIAA is going to send out settlement offers to University of Tennessee students before they are sued.
This is yet another example of the RIAA wasting time and money harassing individuals. You remember the report a few years back of a 12 year old girl being sued by the RIAA. Since then the RIAA has realized that it probably isn’t getting good publicity targeting minors so they decided to hit up that devious college crowd. Plus they have an added insurance policy if the university is a government institution. Worse case, they are probably figuring for a big settlement from the government (ie tax money).
The reality is that suing individuals does not fix the problem. There are an abundance of anonymous ways to transfer music across the Internet. Consider Filetopia, an old but slick software package that offers anonymous file transfer and servers that are overseas outside of US jurisdiction. If the RIAA is serious about curbing the p2p file transfer scene (which I am doubtful is even possible) they need to find ways to encourage people to buy music legitimately rather than trying to discourage them through lawsuits.
Amen to this post! I am so tired of the RIAA trying to get money from people who they know have no money (i.e.: college students and minors). They can’t stop file sharing, and music artists still make plenty of money so I don’t see what’s the big deal about downloading.
Thanks so much for posting this!

Hi! Your write-up rocks and can be a very good read!…
You should excuse my own my English speak, I’m still learning. I like your blog greatly, I find it worth it to read also I saved a bookmark in my world wide web.
I wish more people would write blogs like this that are really fun to read. With all the fluff floating around on the net, it is rare to read a blog like this instead.
Amazing! This blog looks exactly like my old one!
.pretty much the same page layout and design. I like the choice of colors!
Hello! I know this is kinda off topic however I’d figured I’d ask. Would you be interested in exchanging links or maybe guest authoring a blog post or vice-versa? My website discusses a lot of the same topics as yours and I think we could greatly benefit from each other. If you’re interested feel free to shoot me an email. I look forward to hearing from you! Superb blog by the way!
Interesting post , I’m going to spend more time reading about this topic
The major problems with most reseller opportunities that you don’t mention are (1) price wars resellers undercutting each other and (2) the time you have to spend on setting up the website and, more importantly, customer service which can mean that affiliate marketing still ends up more profitable per hour of a person’s time. I realise these hassles don’t apply in the case of your ProHealthMind site but people should know they exist with most resale rights products … you have a very unusual reseller opportunity here!
Eager for reading more. Great post.Really thank you! Keep on writing.
